Model Spec Midtraining (MSM)

Model Spec Midtraining (Anthropic Alignment Science, 2026) is the introduction of the model specification (Model Spec) as early as the midtraining stage, rather than only during post-training. As a result, the model treats the principles as part of its self-knowledge rather than an imposed filter. It is being tested as a measure against alignment faking.
